In this bible talk from 1 Corinthians 1:26-2:5 by Steve Cree, we build on what we learnt last week about the “message of the cross”. We shouldn’t be surprised that God delights in using such a weak and dumb looking thing like a cross as his instrument of salvation. After all, it’s not just the message of the cross that is unimpressive: the hearers of the message (the Corinthians) are unimpressive (1:26-31); and the speaker of the message (Paul) is unimpressive too (2:1-5). Why all this unimpressiveness? So that we’ll be impressed with the Lord and him alone!
Key Verse
For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.
Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:26-2:5
Outline:
1. unimpressive hearers
