Thanks Steve for bringing that message to us, it must have been a tough one to prepare. I am so thankful that God has supplied us with preachers who are willing to teach us God's word faithfully rather than tell us what our itching ears long to hear.

I know that I am tempted to take offence when people rebuke me but this was a good encouragement to be willing to grow in our godliness.

My fear is that if we as a church are unwilling to rebuke other people until we've extracted the 4 x 2 from our own eye then we may fall into the trap of never feeling righteous enough to rebuke anybody else (knowing my own sinfulness I know that is my case). I suspect the answer is, stop sinning, live God's way so that we are in a position to help other people. I wonder if we also need to be willing to listen to rebukes even though the person bringing the rebuke might have some issues themselves thatthey need to sort out? I imagine that the people who are in my small group would be in one of the best positions to rebuke me. Of course, I need to not only be willing to listen to rebukes but also willing to share my life honestly with them. So fella's who meet at Jon's, there's the challenge, hold me accountable.
