Steve Cree spoke to us from 1 Corinthians 14. The main purpose of spiritual gifts is to clearly proclaim the gospel of Jesus – both for the edification of believers and the salvation of unbelievers. This ‘priority test’ makes prophecy far more important than such gifts as tongues.
Key Verse
But if an unbeliever or someone who does not understand comes in while everybody is prophesying, the will be convinced by all that he is a sinner and will be judged by all, and the secrets of his heart will be laid bare. So he will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, “God is really among you!”

Hi there,
I really appreciated the chance to listen to this talk again during the week so I could press the pause button and check the scripture references and their context and try and take more of the talk in. May I say again a big thank you to the sound guys for putting the Bible Talks up on our web site so quickly so people can do that sort of thing. Thanks again to David for effort he puts into making this web site not only work but be very user friendly.
One thing our small group guys have started to do more in response to this series on 1 Corinthians is to work together in spending time with new people at church when the service 1st finishes. It seems to make it easier to converse with new people if it is not just you and the new person talking. By having someone else from my small group with me it seems to make it more comfortable for all involved as we try and build relationships with new people. Hopefully by doing things this way everyone involved is more encouraged.
