Women: want to encourage each other (and eat too)?

The last weekend in October is usually reserved for male things such as Indy or spring gardening… but this year we are calling all women for the SCPC Women’s Retreat.

2009 is nearly upon us, dare I say it; and what better way is there to get a jump on the year ahead than by taking some time out. It’ll be a time to unwind away from the kids, work, washing and a chance to get out of the house.

This is a great time for women teaching each other, encouraging each other, enjoying time with each other, equipping each other for Connect 09, and of course eating…

It will be a great time looking at God’s Word and learning how we can be better christian women! The men have been challenged a lot lately and now it’s our turn.

How can we respond to the challenges in God’s Word and how will that manifest itself in CONNECT 09? We’ll hear from ladies within our church family about what a mission year means for them, in respect to their home, work, and ministry/church life.

The retreat gives us a great chance to catch up with ladies from the different services as well a meet some you don’t know. While the location and times show no overnight escape, and the fact that we aren’t even getting out of Lismore – it is still a retreat!

The Retreat is on October 24-25. With the Friday night festivities running from 7 to 9.30pm and 9am-3pm on Saturday.

Both days will be at the Park Ave buildings in Lismore. A sign up sheet is ready up the back of church on Sundays for you to add your name to it. This is for catering purposes. Friday night dessert and Saturday lunch is provided, but please bring along something to share for morning tea.

So please mark it in your diaries.

Look forward to catching up with you there!

The girls in our small group are planning a sleepover at my house on the Friday night.
A sleepover (apart from being super-fun!) ensures that the two younger girls in my group (that don’t have their licences) are able to come to the whole event, and not just part of it.
A sleepover might not be ideal for all groups, but it works for us. We’ll get to have fun and fellowship, we’ll get to learn from the bible and encourage each other, AND we’ll get to eat food!! Sounds like a great weekend to me!
PS Thanks heaps for all that you’ve done in organising it Nic…you’re a gem!

I can’t wait! I love going to the women’s retreat every year as it provides opportunity to catch up with women in our church family who I don’t normally cross paths with. It’s also a great time to develop new relationships and build on existing ones. Hope to see LOTS of women there!!!

If I was a woman… actually let’s not go there! Hope you have a great time ladies, especially with the aerobics – that looks lilke a real hoot! In fact, it gives me a few ideas for Blokes Go Bush…

Pete, I thank you for not delving any further into your ‘if I was a woman’ thought…for all our sakes!
I’m with Jill on how great it will be to spend some time with women in the church that I would not normally see very often.
I’m very much looking forward to the weekend and am very glad that my boss gave me the Saturday off, even though I only asked her at the end of last week!
I was not aware of any aerobics…I might have to speak to Nicole about this…thanks for the heads up Pete 🙂

Thanks for the comments Jill and Rach; and can I put your mind at ease ladies, there isn’t any aerobics planned, but I am open to some impromptu stuff if the mood calls for it.
Something I forgot to mention is that, if you’re coming to the Friday night, would be able to bring a bean bag.
    See you all there…

You put my mind at ease Nic…thanks 🙂
I’ll bring my bean bag too 🙂

you will definitely see me there with my bean-bag in tow!
The youth group girls are also doing a sleepover and I can’t wait!
    Hope to see you there!
