Steve Cree spoke to us from Romans 12:1-8 and Acts 2:42-47.  Our response to the gospel of God’s mercy is not just individual, but together. So also with mission: healthy outreach happens as the overflow of healthy church. As we play our part in the church we play a part in mission.

Key Verse

Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”

One Response to “SCPC Podcast: Connect09 Talk 10, Connect With Community”

  1. Steve, your comments on Sunday about preferring to move from using the word “committment” to using “devotion” got me thinking about what, if any, was the difference between the two.
The point that I have come to so far is:
Committment is a conscious choice of the mind.
Devotion is an act of the soul – mind, emotions, conscience & will all focusing in a single direction.
It seems as though committment is something that we can choose to stop just as easily as we chose to start, (I used to be committed to my exercise programme) but devotion identifies more of “who we are” than “what we do”.
Committment is measurable, either by effort or timeframe – even the BIG one, “til death us do part!” where as devotion is infinite and is not subject to being influenced by the actions of others.
I pray that I can move from merely being committed to being devoted to all that God wants to achieve in and through me.
