Thanks for the talk Steve. I am grateful that we have the talks on the web, as I couldn’t make it to church Sunday. It is encouraging that in the midst of life’s storms we can look to the one who upholds all things and demonstrated his love for us by enduring the agony of the cross in our place.
You mentioned in your talk that God at creation spoke to bring order out of chaos. I thought Genesis 1 talks about it as if there is a void and darkness, and that God creates out of nothing, “ex nihilo”. Where do you get the idea of chaos at creation from?
Thanks Steve,
How i will miss your talks!
I was wondering though…
Why do the demons want to go into the pigs, what does that achieve? Do they go back to hell (if hell is where they come from…) and are able to enter into someone else?
“It takes more than enthusiasm to carry one through the real tests and battles of life.We emphasized that Christ had not come just to bring men to heaven but to change the way men live upon earth here and now; that He expected His disciples to obey Him, not just believe on Him”

Jesus said”If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.” Matthew 16:24
thanks for a great talk Steve that hit right to the heart.
Thanks Trev – and also David, for the question about ‘chaos in creation. Yes, definitely God created everything from noting according to Genesis 1. Yet the process was one, as you follow the text of first creating the ‘elements’ as it were, of creation, and then ordering them. The Hebrew word in Genesis 1:2 that is translated (NIV) as ‘formless’ is translated in other contexts (e.g. Isaiah 34:11) with the word ‘chaos’. The idea ISN’T of course, that the world was at that point either out of God’s control or somehow in the same sort of state as the ‘chaos’ by which we might describe the present fallen creation… nonetheless it IS a picture of God first bringing the mighty forces/elements of creation into being and then ordering them around to bring the very good order found by the seventh day (2:3). Hope that helps.
Being a christian is not a career when you get to a certain age you retire. Its a calling from God its a life time commitment right to the end.
