Steve Cree spoke to us from Luke 24:36-53 . Not only did Jesus predict his death and resurrection during his ministry, but the entire Old Testament was pointing to this event. The only right response is to not only believe in this event but to base our lives on it.

  1. Hi Steve,

Thanks again for another great talk – challenging, clear and humorous. Sadly for me, it was the last one you will do as our Senior Minister. I did notice that you used the phrase “forgiveness of sins through Jesus” many, many times during the talk, which is something I’ve appreciated about your talks from the 1st day I came to SCPC. You have shown me over the 7 or so yrs I’ve been at SCPC how central the gospel is to all of the Bible and to our lives as believers. You’ve opened my eyes to how the gospel not only saves us, but how the gospel is what God uses to mature us and spur us on towards love and good deeds. I’ve really appreciated and sensed how you have been humbled by God’s word as you have prepared to preach it – that you’ve been challenged by the Word, humbled by your own sinfulness and failings, and spurred on to live for God, including calling this church to answer God’s call from His word. Many thanks for the all of the above.

P.S. I’m also thankful for the many people you’ve helped raise up to be able to do gospel ministry too. I’m confident that the ministry team we have at SCPC can continue the great work you helped start.

  2. Thanks David for your very encouraging comments (apologies for delay in my response) – and for the fact that this is something you have done on so many occasions across the years not just for me but for so many in our church family. The gift of encouragement is a wonderful thing!

I listened to Yocky’s talk yesterday and that was great confirmation of your P.S. comment about the ability of the ministry team and the whole church to continue the gospel ministry at SCPC. It was such a clear biblical application of the true gospel to a part of life so often misunderstood. I do hope anyone who missed it will download it – and will be very encouraged by doing so.

  3. Hello SCPC,

I wasnt sure where to write this comment but here seems appropriate enough! As we too would echo Davids comments from our time in Lismore.
We want you to know that Crees we are praying for you in preparation for new plans ahead next year. We give thanks for the teaching, training, love and energy you have poured out to us and others over the years at Lismore.
Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone at church too as you prepare and adjust to changes, may you keep maturing and preservering in Christ through all things.

    Iedema Family
