Steve Cree spoke to us from Luke 12:22-34. Our worries reveal our hearts. Following Jesus turns our hearts from valuing (and worrying about) the things of this world. Instead we will value God’s Kingdom and giving as he has given to us.

  1. Greetings all! Thanks so much Steve for the reminder to be trusting God in all things, for all things! I have been going through my study prep and have been deeply convicted and challenged. The whole issue of worrying about the excess which God has given has hit me hard…and thats not even taking into account Jesus’s call to give to the poor!

How black my heart is and chained by material wealth and comfort I am. To be so stingy with the excess in which God has blessed me, to justify I am entitled to be as comfortable as anyone around me. It pains me to think that the good works God has prepared in advance for me to do are left undone and I pray that the desire for myself along with the abundance God has blessed me with, to be poured out as an offering for the people and work of God would ever grow.

When it is hard to give even out of your excess surely it is a sign that the idol of Money is a bit more evident in your life than you would like to believe.

Even now as I write this I feel the tension in my heart knowing that if I choose to heed this warning, to listen rather than just hear, to follow rather than just focus, that it will mean sacrifice and dare I say it, maybe even discomfort.

  2. Hey Steve Tilley my brother thankyou for being so honest with how you are being convicted and are wrestling with this issue its one I struggle with.
Learning to worship God means giving up our earthly comforts its so opposite to the way the world speaks it yells buys this it will make you happy , look after yourself first and maybe give a little to a charity to make your self look good, woship whatever god makes you happy they all lead to the same place.
Idolatry takes on so many forms like possesions, money, the way men look at women and the way women look at men ,even in churches people going to hear what their favourite guru has to say instead of hearing what the word of God has to say.

    I love what Jesus say’s :-
    Luke 12:30-34

30For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you.

32 “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Even though things on this earth may get hard its only for a short time, but make use of all opportunities to share the gospel and know that we have treasures in heaven given to us by a father that loves us and store your heart there to.
Love you my brother praying for you and standing with you .
