Simon Allery spoke to us from 1 Timothy 6:3-10.  The wealth gospel is a false gospel, driven by our greed. If we focus on wealth we will be lured away from true riches – eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Key Verse

“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.”

1 Timothy 6:6-7

Bible Readings:  1 Timothy 6:3-10

Outline:

One Response to “SCPC Podcast: Health, Wealth and Stealth Gospel Series Talk 2, the Wealth Gospel”

  1. Thanks Simon for your talk.
We are so quick to respond like Adam and Eve did when satan spoke to them .
    Genesis 3

1Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made.

He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” 2And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’” 4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise,[b] she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.

But we are so slow to respond when Jesus speaks to us .
    Mark 8:34-36:

If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?

Makes me wonder how serious Australian christians take the words of God?
