This week’s Bible Talk took us to 1 Tim 5:1-16 where we saw that even the weakest members of the kingdom have something to offer in the service of the king. Such people shouldn’t be neglected but enlisted in productive service.

Hey Pete thanks for a great challanging talk. I believe this is something our church really needed to hear its all so a conversation I have been having with a few guys that we need to start helping each other in that if you have a project at home ask someone to help you and if you know someone is struggling to get something done say “i will be there tommorrow to help you get it done”. Yeah i agree that it goes way beyond the small groups(This is the foundation we stand on) but the words of God must flow into action too.
I love helping people this is my love gift to people but it grieve’s me deeply when I don’t get the chance to do this, that people think they have to do it on there own but its denying the oppurtunity of fellowship and growth in Christ of another brother or sister.
So I guess the challange is that fellowship or hospitality is not just having a meal with someone but all so asking for help when you need a job done and all so seeking to help others when you see a need.
I long to see this happen more in our church and I know it can happen by following what Gods word says and taking that leap into action.
Hi Trev – sorry, a bit slow to reply.
It’d be great to hear different ways that people have been helped by others in the church family. I think that sometimes there’s lots of good stuff happening but we don’t think to tell each other about it.
Let me be the first: a guy in my small group GAVE me a car. Another guy in my small group gives me a ride most weeks. Someone else in our church family gave us half a cow (to eat, that is). Lots of people give me the privilege of keeping them accountable in specific struggles against sin. A dedicated bunch of people love Jesus enough to spend Sunday mornings teaching my kids about Jesus.
Any other stories out there?
Hey Pete wasn’t really expectinga reply and I hope I didn’t seem to be having a go at anyone but trying to encourage others to act as it is a wonderful way to serve somone and the church but yeah I think it is a good idea to share our stories.
One thing my small group gives me is pray, time to listen to my struggles.
Persons have given money when we have had none and helped with medical expences because we haven’t been able to pay them.
We have been given cars to when ours have reached their last legs and I think we have the other half of your cow in our freezer:-). There is many more things that have happened God really does look after us and meets our needs.
Hi Everybody…… There are so many good things happening in our church family!
I wanted to share how recently especially we were in need of some ‘good things’ and how wonderful the response was from our church family.
Last week, I spent 4 days in hospital with 4mth old Isabella (who is fine now!). We had so many offers of help from our church family (many of which were accepted!). We recieved help with meals, babysitting, company, support and PRAYER. It was so amazing to recieve help from our small groups and also many others within our church family.
Thanks to you all! Keep on serving!
