Growup: Day 183

Isa 30:1-32:20

Twice in this section Israel is condemned for seeking salvation from Eygpt. You would have to think this would have been a bit hard for the Lord to take. Time and time again as we have moved through the Old Testament we have heard the Lord remind his people about his might and strength. Helping them to recall the exodus and Gods mighty hand that saved them out of the powerful nation…. Eygpt.

Yet here when Gods people are under threat from a powerful nation they turn to… Egypt.

God’s people have forgotten their great salvation and the powerful king they serve, they are relying on false hopes.

The Book of Hebrews (stay tuned for term 3 Bible Talks) will confront those who have also  forgotten their great salvation:

1We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. 2For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, 3how shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation? Heb 2:1-2
