Romans 10 – 12
I have to admit that I am a few days behind and struggling to catchup – its Romans! There is so much in Romans that is mind boggling and challenging. I read the chapters this morning (skipped ahead to do today’s blog!) and was reminded of God’s grace throughout salvation history. My initial question, sparked by slight offense to the passage, was why does Israel seem to be the favoured son? But then I was swiftly reminded that NONE of us deserve to be chosen and restored to God. God’s favour towards Israel was pure grace shown to his people and through Israel, God showed grace to us all by sending Jesus to fulfill the law given to Israel… How great is this verse –
“Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.”
Israel sought to live by the law but didn’t see that it wasn’t attainable in themselves. It was only attainable in Christ fulfilling it for them so that we all could be counted righteous before God…
What was something that was striking for you in the passages? Any questions that it raised?
It’s just on the edge of the reading- but this has been the verse that has ‘calmed my soul’ over the past month or so
Romans 9:16
So then it depends not on human will or effort but on God, who has mercy.

Hey I also think it is Great knowing that as well but you need to remember it is In God’s will and God’s will alone that you can do things. And also remember to go back and read through all you have skipped.
