Growup: day 334

Mark 1 – 3

Hey guys

sorry about the delay! Hope you made it this far…

I’ve been reading Mark a bit recently but rereading the first three chapters in one hit just reminded me how the gospel of Mark is sharing events and moments of Jesus life in new flashes that reveal Jesus’ authority – his authority given by God (1:10-11),  his authority to call a people to himself (1:14-20, 3:13-18), his authority  to heal (1:21-28, 31-34, 40-42, 2:1-12, 3:1-6, 10-11) and his authority to teach (1:35-39, 2:1-2, 18-22, 23-28, 3:7-9, 20 – 35).

The gospel of Mark is revealing who Jesus is through the life that he lived on earth and also that in the initial stages of Jesus’ ministry all those around Jesus had no idea truly who Jesus was and what he came to do. Check out Mark 1:35-39… The disciples and the people were after Jesus for his miracles and for the power that he showed but Jesus simply said that he came to teach, to tell people that the kingdom of God is near and people needed to repent and live their lives for God in response to the grace that was going to be shown in Jesus giving up his life for the sin of the world.

We live on the other side of the resurrection, knowing that God’s power and love was fully revealed in the death and resurrection of Jesus. That’s pretty amazing news to share and live out…
