One to One Bible Reading

Church family members, of all ages, are discovering the benefits of reading the Bible one to one – some of us for the very first time. If you are looking for some direction to guide your one to one Bible reading, talk to your GC leaders about resources or drop in to the office and grab one of the bookmarks we’ve created with 6 simple but helpful questions:

  1. What do you like about this story & why?
  2. What questions might someone have about his story?
  3. What do you learn about people from this story?
  4. What do you learn about God (or Jesus) from this story?
  5. What do you want to keep thinking about this week?
  6. How will you respond in your thoughts, attitude or behaviour?

Keeping Our Distance

With Covid-19 restrictions easing, we still need to keep 1.5m distance between us and our visitors. Keep social distancing in mind when you send in your photos.

Loving God Loving Each Other Loving the World
Sunday Give thanks that in love God created the heavens and the earth. Pray we can grow in our appreciation of all that God provides us. Continue to pray with Linda that she can get home to Australia in June. Pray for energy and rest as she faces uncertainty about when she can travel back and needing to pack up. Pray for her local church in Taiwan that is small and struggling.
Monday Praise God that in love he invited us into the life of love that existed in the Trinity. Pray that God’s love for us will overflow in our lives in our love for each other. Pray for India and Bangladesh during the Covid-19 crisis. Pray that the governments will be able to help and protect their people. The poor and transient are particularly struggling with the lockdowns and now a cyclone is impacting them. Pray that Christians will love people and share Jesus.
Tuesday Confess that we fail to reflect God’s overflowing love to the world. Ask God’s forgiveness when we are unloving and forgive others who are unloving to us. Please pray for R as she seeks to encourage her friends who are struggling during the continued isolation. Pray with R that during this crisis that God would continue to draw people to Him.
Wednesday Admit that we are tempted to be self-centred and loveless. Ask God to help us to keep looking ahead to the day when creation will be redeemed & restored. Pray for our country and for our government. Pray that during this difficult time Christians in Australia will notice the needs of those around them, show Jesus’ love and care to them and actively seek to share Jesus with them.
Thursday Rejoice that God showed the depth of his love by giving his Son. Ask God for his strength to lay down our lives for each other. Pray with M for the country in which she is serving. Pray for her friend Tas that she might be able to grasp the grace of God. Pray for continued opportunities to build relationships with neighbours.
Friday Give thanks that we love for God first loved us. Pray that our Youth will be amazed at the extent of God’s love for humanity. Pray for the countries in Latin America as they are increasingly being impacted by Covid-19. Pray that the countries will be able to get the help they need. Pray that many will come to know Jesus during this very difficult time.
Saturday Ask that God would help us to love one another. Pray that God’s glory would be the result of the way we love each other. Pray that Christians will be boldly sharing the gospel all across the world. Pray that we can show Christ’s love to each other and to those who don’t yet know Him during the Covid-19 crisis and beyond.
