The Pastors’ Post

Here is a short video from one of our pastors, Stew, as he talks about life at SCPC this week.

Welcome to The Pastors’ Post, an update for life at Southern Cross.

This weekend we have a full Anzac weekend because don’t forget to bring your heartfelt message for our most lovely Lyn who is retiring from our Kids Coordinator role and staff team and bring it along to Bexhill this weekend for lunch with Lyn from midday at Sam Trimble Oval. BYO lunch and picnic rug.

We also have Jotham with us this weekend to keep us up to date with his plans to return to Germany in May, to take the beautiful words of comfort found in God’s Word across the nation of Germany. Kids and Youth are invited to JFC (which stands for Jotham Football Club!). No club like that actually exists but it seemed an opportunity too good to miss to see two of Jotham’s loves come together: a love for Jesus, and a love for soccer. So kids and youth from SCPC are invited to GSAC this Saturday to ‘Partner, play and pray’.

As Jotham begins our time together at GSAC on Saturday, he’ll explain how you can partner with him and CMS (his mission agency), play some indoor soccer and then finish by praying for Jotham.

Finally, Jotham will be preaching across our three Sunday gatherings this weekend. He will be opening up God’s Word to one of, if not his favourite passage from God’s Word from Isaiah 40. It’s a message that echoes out the comfort that is on offer across the world. How good will this message be? Have a listen from Isaiah 40:

3“In the wilderness prepare
    the way for the Lord;
make straight in the desert
    a highway for our God.

4 Every valley shall be raised up,
    every mountain and hill made low;
the rough ground shall become level,
    the rugged places a plain.

5 And the glory of the Lord will be revealed,
   and all people will see it together.
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Look out! Comfort is coming. And it will steamroll whatever gets in its way. How good is that!!

Thanks for tuning into The Pastors’ Post.
