At DNA last night we were discussing exercising ourselves towards godly disciplines (like studying the Bible, prayer, evangelism, fellowship etc) and the potential problem of this leading to legalism (“I have to”) and/or pride. I’d be interested in how people exercise themselves towards godliness through disciplines without it becoming something they feel they have to do in a legalistic sense, or become proud that they have read their Bible today etc.

On the other end of the spectrum is only doing godly disciplines when you feel lead by the Spirit or just feel like doing it. If I only prayed when I felt like it, my prayer life would be near non-existent! How do you avoid the problem of not growing much as a Christian if you only do things when you feel like doing them etc?

Pray the final talk in the series from Gal 5:26-6:18 helped to answer some of the questions!
