The Pastors’ Post

Here is a short video from one of our pastors, Stew, as he talks about life at SCPC this week.

Welcome to The Pastors’ Post, an update for life at Southern Cross. GO Sunday is this weekend! And it’s been described in recent weeks, that this begins our new year at Southern Cross Presbyterian Church. Obviously, that is not the case this weekend, we are on the cusp of tipping into February! But, over the summer, people come and they GO and with kids back at school, this weekend is a key weekend for the life of our church family.

At GO Sunday we will formally thank Ian for his service as Families Pastor in 2020 and transition Tim into the role for 2021. We will also commission Gavin and Catherine Henderson, who will begin to serve as Vision Coordinators, as my Gospel Community looks to multiply this weekend.

So, an important weekend this weekend if you are able to join us. Our Sunday gatherings are 9am at Invercauld House with Southern Cross Goonellabah, 9:45am at Lismore High School and again at 6pm at Lismore High School. Please ensure you register: we are striving to improve the sign-in process, and we invite you to even consider coming in earlier as the process takes longer than we would normally be accustomed to pre-covid.

But finally, pray that GO Sunday would simply just be another day that we will live under the beauty of the living God, enjoying his world, loving his creation, and mirroring his glory across the world.

Let me read this cracker of a passage from 1 Thessalonians 1:7-10:

7 And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia
 and Achaia.
8 The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia
and Achaia—your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it,
9 for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us.
They tell how you turned to God from idols
to serve the living and true God,
10 and to wait for his Son from heaven,
whom he raised from the dead—
Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.

Thanks for tuning into The Pastors’ Post.
