The Pastors’ Post

Here is a short video from one of our pastors, Stew, as he talks about life at SCPC this week.

Welcome to The Pastors’ Post, an update for life at Southern Cross.

Tonight our youth program returns at 7pm at Lismore High School. Remember if your youth are attending, to bring along $2 for toasties. And for youth families or friends you know keep an eye out for details for our annual youth camp. Safari is running July 3-7 and it culminates in the sensational Safari Sunday that will be happening on July 11.

This weekend Sunday soccer returns as well, just keep in mind COVID safety and remember to sign in with the NSW services app. This is a really easy way to invite friends or family along to a social game of soccer. The BiGGest challenge for us is to remember to keep directing all glory to the One who is worthy of our worship. Not us, but our Father God, the provider of all great comfort.

Finally, Leadership Team met on Wednesday and we began our meeting by briefly sharing what brings us comfort. It was a very interesting exercise! Some of the responses: a full tank of petrol, vast country plains, a book in the sunshine inside on cool winter’s day, or a precious passage from Psalm 46. It was this passage that had brought comfort to one of our elders that I then borrowed to use to encourage and comfort one of the members of our church family as they battled the news of a family member who will again recommence treatment for cancer next week.

I pray you might find comfort from these words too. Let me read Psalm 46:1-7.

1 God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
    and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam
    and the mountains quake with their surging.[c]
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
    the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5 God is within her, she will not fall;
    God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
    he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
7 The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Thanks for tuning into The Pastors’ Post.
