Growup: Day 336

Mark 6:1-7:37

Mark begins in this way:

1 The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah,[a] the Son of God

Mark of all the gospels is like the highlights tour of Jesus and his ministry. So the opening chapters of Mark provide plenty of arsenal to demonstrate Jesus is indeed divine, indeed he is the Son of God:

Feeding five thousand, walking on water, driving out demons even healing the deaf and mute.

But the definitive event would come soon. The event that would lead even those on the outside (the gentiles) understand who this man truely was:

37 With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last. 38 The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. 39 And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how he died,[c] he said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!” Mark 15:37-39

At this event the gentile centurion understood who he was and at this event Jesus would fufill his mission:

45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45

This is our… God… The servant king
