The Pastors’ Post

Here is a short video from one of our pastors, Tim, as he talks about life at SCPC this week.

Hello everyone and welcome to The Pastors’ Post.

If I haven’t met you yet, I’m Tim, the new Families Pastor. I’ve got a couple of things to talk to you about but first I’d just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped us with the settling in process. Myself, my wife and our 6 month old daughter have just moved up from Newcastle. On move in day, we were greeted by a small army who helped unload our moving truck 45 min flat! Then we’ve had some of the senior youth setting up our furniture and mowing our lawn and people bringing us meals and inviting us over as well. On behalf of Jasmine and myself, thank you!

Now, this Sunday is SRE Sunday. That means we’ll be plugging school scripture. And we need a bunch more Scripture teachers. So, have a think if that could be you and be ready to hear more on Sunday.

Finally, Linda McKerrell is here in Lismore as we speak. She is a missionary in Taiwan that we as a church family support. I’ve seen her and she is excited to tell us about God’s mission in Taiwan but also to help us with God’s mission here in Lismore.

Linda will be visiting our Sunday gatherings, our kid’s church, our youth and we’ll be having a Young Adults Mission Night! But something I’m really looking forward to is the Equip night on Tuesday 23rd. Linda will be training us to share the gospel through story. I think this is gold in our “post truth” age because when you make a truth claim like ‘Jesus is God’ people don’t know what to do with that anymore. They can’t engage. But if Netflix teaches us anything it’s that people love a good story. So get along to the Equip night and learn how to tell the gospel in story.

If you’d like to know more about where you can see Linda, please talk to Jillian (jillian@scpc.org.au).

Now, I’d like to leave you with the great story from Philippians 2 from verse 6.

[Jesus], being in very nature[a] God,
    did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature[b] of a servant,
    being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
    he humbled himself
    by becoming obedient to death—
        even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Thanks for tuning in to The Pastors’ Post.
