As you would be aware, the Northern Rivers Presbytery (Presbyterian Ministers and appointed Elders from Tweed Heads to South Grafton) met this Wednesday 6th October and one of the agenda items was to consider the appointment of Rev. James Ritchie as a Pastoral Assistant (unsupervised) to Southern Cross for 2022. James was unanimously endorsed for the position. Ministry and Mission is also in favour of James’ appointment.
The process from here is for a Preliminary Information Session to be held, hopefully in person, on Sunday 31st October at Park Ave, 11:30am-12:15pm to provide a Q and A about James and the role. The following weekend, Sunday 7th November at 11:30am at Park Ave, there will be a congregational meeting to endorse the financials for the role. If approved, the Rev. James Ritchie would begin at Southern Cross on 1st January 2022 as Families Pastor. James would then move through a formal call process late 2022 for a possible induction to SCPC early 2023.
Tim will finish in the position of Families Pastor on Sunday 17th October. Gabby will begin the Youth Admin role Friday 22nd October. We give thanks for Tim’s hard work over the last month to prepare the youth program for Term 4 and are looking forward to Gabby serving one day a week in the Youth Admin role.
