The majority of the Taiwan short term mission trip team (STMT) recently attended the Gen12 conference in Brisbane. Gen12 is named after Genesis 12 where the LORD had said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” (Gen 12:1-3)
This conference was a good time to get away and build our team relationships as well as spending some time focussing on God’s mission to the world. The big highlight of the day was a session on preparing for a short term trips. We learnt some ideas about how to prepare before the trip, what to do on the trip, and how to finish well after. Another part of the day was seminar electives. Mark did Working with differences on the mission field & multicultural teams, Lucy and Estelle did Poverty and Mission – How do you reconcile them? Steve did Professionals in Ministry, and Dan did Urban Mission – The New Old Frontier.
It was a good conference to kick off our preparation. We will also be doing some language practice, ministry training, and a retreat within in the next few months.
