Growup: day 283

Luke 1:1 – 2:20

What great news Mary received! How wonderful is it that that news doesn’t lose its “greatness” over thousands of years! Mary’s response was to praise God and sing to him in joy and humility. Reading Mary’s song displayed her great hope in God’s promises and that she looked forward to the fulfillment – though, i don’t think she imagined that the fulfillment would involve Jesus, the son that was born to her, dying on a roman cross.

Wow… we get to read the birth of John the Baptist and Jesus the Messiah, knowing that this little baby was going to be the fulfillment of the world’s salvation history. It’s been good for me to remember that little baby Jesus didn’t stay in a manger but it grew up and fulfilled what I could not. It brings us to praise God…

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favour rests…”

Peace to men, hey? Check out Romans 5:1 – 2

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.”
