Mark 15 – 16
I always feel grieved when I read the crucifixion account but I think the reason for my grief is somewhat similar to Apostle Peter’s rebuke to Jesus – “Surely not Lord!”. The God of all creation died a most humiliating death and it feels like there is defeat in Jesus’ death…
There was defeat, not of our God but a defeat of Satan and death through something that the world sees as foolishness and weakness. Praise God for how he works! He worked through the weak and foolish things of this world to bring back to himself weak, foolish people (or dumb lost sheep! Check out Simon’s talk from Sunday if you didn’t get to hear it) to bear his image and message to the world.
