2 Sam 18:1-20:3
With the death of Absalom you might expect order to return to Gods people.
It begins that way too.
The people are hurrying to get to the King as he returns to the Jordon.
Even Shimei (remember he is the guy who called David a scoundrel in ch16) is there eating humble pie.
Can we then jump back on board the promises of 2 Sam 7. The kingdom established back under David and our eyes fixed to see the son born of David whose kingdom will never end.
It is not quite that neat.
The divided nature of Israel to David (19:10) turns to complete rebellion as they follow the troublemaker Sheba.
