Hi everyone at SCPC! Thanks so much for the friendly welcome last weekend– it’s great to get to know you all a little bit more, and it just made me all the more impatient for 2009; for my move to Lismore and the start of my ministry with TBT.

I was particularly encouraged when listening to the Bible talk on Sunday – Steve preached from 1 Corinthians 12:1-11, an important reminder of how we are all united in the one Lord Jesus.  However, while united in the one Lord, each of us serves Jesus and his people in different ways.  As a new TBT staffworker for 2009, I got a bit excited about this passage – it really helped me think through TBT’s uni ministry, and in particular, how TBT and SCPC work together in service of Jesus.

Next year, some of us will be involved at the ‘frontline’ of evangelism at uni.  The TBT students and staff will spend lots of time on campus, and we’ll seek many opportunities to share Jesus with uni students.  This will be an important part of connect 09 – seeking to make Jesus known in Lismore.

However, this doesn’t mean it’s just the TBT staff and students who are involved in serving Jesus at uni.  In fact, everyone at SCPC is vital to this ministry – even though not everyone might have the opportunity or gifts to hang out on campus, or to chase students around the pillars with TBT fliers (Susan’s specialty), or to shoot Bibles into the plaza from a specially built spud-gun (ask Nicky for more details!).

While us TBTers are able to spend stacks of time on campus, there are heaps of different ways we’d love you to share in ministry with us at uni.  Some of you might visit TBT occasionally to check it out; others could pray for students and the uni;  others might be able to give financially to TBT’s ministry…  Regardless of how each one of us is involved in TBT, we are all united in seeking to have the good news of the gospel proclaimed at uni so that many students willingly confess “Jesus is Lord”.

The TBT staff and students would love to have many people from SCPC join with us in uni ministry – whether it be by praying, giving, chatting to us about what we get up to… Please pray about how you can be involved!

In Christ,
Katharine

If we have TBT on ‘the hill’ sometime next year, we could shoot bibles from guns in the same way that they shoot t-shirts at concerts…bibles may be a bit more lethal than t-shirts to those trying to catch them though 🙂 Maybe we could attach parachutes to each of the bibles…how cool would that be!?
It was great to have you visit again Katharine and we look forward to you moving up here to join the rest of us Lismorons soon 🙂
Praying for you, your move and your service to God (and us!) through TBT.

thanks for praying rachael – I’m looking forward to being a Lismoron! I loved the creative energy of the tbt girls… what else did we come up with besides the spud gun? tbt girls social at the motorcross?

The tbt girls night in last friday was great – like a window into next year! it’s going to be great to get to know you as we serve God together.
